Often while hiking I find plastic water bottles left by careless - TopicsExpress

Often while hiking I find plastic water bottles left by careless hikers. These dont get picked up as the return deposit in states like Massachusetts doesnt cover water bottles. Finally they are now proposing an update to include them (called question2). It turns out that Coca Cola (who creates many of the water bottles) has spent a whopping 8 million dollars to try and uneducate the public and prevent this important bill from passing. They use television commercials depicting it as a bad idea, radio and talk show time all invested so they wont need to help keep their product from ending up in our forests and watersheds. Well now, profit before ethics? Thats not something I subscribe too. I hope that many people think like I do and no longer use their product. I also hope the majority of people see the benefit of allowing people to collect deposits for picking up plastic waste. PS: It was companies like Coca Cola that spent millions to convince people tap water was bad so they could sell us something already in each of our homes. They are *major* contributors to plastic in the ocean. Have a great day folks and thanks for listening...
