While assuring that proactive measures are being put in place to curtail the spread of the disease, the commissioner however challenged residents to maintain personal and environmental hygiene as the disease was caused by poor disposal of faeces, poor environmental sanitation and lack of portable water. He however said that the state government is curtailing the outbreak. Gastroenteritis is a medical condition characterized by inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract that involves both the stomach and the small intestine resulting in some combination of diarrhoea, vomiting, and abdominal pain and cramping.
