"Oh I hope I can make it home in time…" Wondered Mrs. Goof. “Goofy is probably hungry and knowing him.. he probably worked up an appetite after so many ‘explosions’ and ‘accidents’." Mrs. Goof was just coming home from grocery shopping. She had bought the usual: eggs, bread, and milk. She also bought some cake, deocrations, soda, and a new game system because it was Max’s 6th birthday that weekend. “Oh it’s going to be a blast," Mrs. Goof said to herself. “Goofy, Mickey, and Donald are probably going to ‘goof’ around, while Minnie, Daisy and I enjoy a good laugh while watching the boys." Mrs. Goof was proud and happy. It was her son’s 6th birthday, all his friends were coming over, and she was marred to the love of her life. She came up to a stop and quickly checked to see if she had forgotten anything. … There was a knock on the door. “Maxxie! Could you get that?" Yelled Goofy from the kitchen. He was trying to fix the refrigerator because it sprung a leak. "Sure Daddy!" Yelled Max running down the stairs. “I bet it’s mommy and she’s back from shopping for my birthday!" "It probably is!" Goofy shouted back. “Garwsh," he whispered to himself, “why doesn’t she use the key?" "MOMMY! 3 DAYS UNTIL MY BIR- …" Max stopped suddenly. "Is your dad home?" "Dad…?" Goofy came up to the front door. There standing in his doorway wasn’t his wife, but a police officer who looked very sullen. "Mr. Goof?" "Yes.." "May I talk to you in private..?" "Go on Maxxie. Go upstairs I’ll be right behind ya." "Where’s mommy?" "Just go son." Max looked around and noticed something was wrong. He could see it in everyone faces. But he silently obeyed and went upstairs. "Mr. Goof. I’m very sorry to say… but your wife died in a tragic accident. She was dead when we got there. I’m sorry. It was a head on collision. The other driver lost control of his car. This is all we can manage to have saved." With that, the officer pulled out her wallet and wedding ring. "We’re still going to need you to come down to the morgue to make sure it is her. I’m terribly sorry." Goofy just stood there. Drained of all emotion. He held the possessions in his hands and let them drop. He walked upstairs and discovered Max listened to the whole conversation. "SHE CAN’T BE DEAD! DADDY BRING HER BACK! SHE CANT DIE! SHE CANT!’ "I’m sorry Maxxie. I need to take you to Uncle Donalds house for tonight…" "NO NO NO NO! DADDY! NO!" Max was yelling at the top of his lunging hoping his pleas won’t fall on deaf ears. “DAD! NO!" Tears were streaming down both Goofy’s and Max’s face.
