Oh WOW a day to remember!! So much to see and do here and all so close. First I turned up and watched Michael Jung warm up for the Grand Prix. The man is a freak as I had to do a double take to make sure it was him with me not realising he was competing. He just rides beautifully and they were outstanding. Next the super little man Algebra cruised around the xc. I let him run but kept a bit in the bag for our next weeks main competition and was pleasantly surprised we ended up placing 8th!! Little did I know the presentations began almost as soon as xc last horses finished. Lucky for Andrew (the old man managed to stay on this week and went at an impressive speed) to end up 2nd, he has a 2nd horse in the stable to tack up for presentations. I was still walking Sam as it was 30 degrees outside and the temporary stables were a sauna and I had no idea on our position at that time. In the confusion of people telling us in presentation in 10 mins I chucked Sam in the box and ran down to the start as I was unsure of my place. Finding out I was to be there in 2 mins I ran back and Sam had rolled like he does best. Ahhhh!!! Thanks to the lovely Marcella De Kams mother she helped me brush him and get him half presentable for presentations. Lucky he had a lovely poo stain that I could hide under his saddlecloth. Probably the only time I really needed a groom and unfortunately the lovely Alexandra Van Tuyll grooming for Andrew was still washing Rutherglen when the chaos started. A bit of a mix of uniforms with some still in xc get up, riding jackets and shirts. But I guess its a show and regardless of the horses feeling it was rushes through so they can start the Grand Prix Showjumping. Anyway we got there and was very proud to be in the line up in good company. Next highlight was watching Tortilas warm up and do his test. What a magical horse and OMG the fan club was impressive. You couldnt see the dressage test as it was 5 lines deep, but thankfully Tim Lips and I were small enough to be able to climb a temporary wobbly fence and balance enough on it and Alexs shoulders to get a great view! Absolute groupies we were! Sure wasnt perfect but was exceptionally nice test. Anyway some pics on my phone before running out of battery! I have some great camera pics for a later date. Just relaxing in a hotel enjoying a nice German beer to celebrate!
