Oh, and Austin Thejedi Cooley, Ive always considered you a good friend. Aside from bein a funny dude, youve always been open minded and intelligent about serious issues, and weve had many lil debates that ended in agreement or agreein to disagree. I appreciate that. So with that all said, Ill attempt to answer your question because I do sincerely value your opinion. So Imma try not to bore you with repetitious banter. Im boycottin this show because it kinda coincides with the process of systematic brainwash that has plagued African Americans since the days they first arrived to the US of A. There was this thing called slavery, LOL, and this horrible piece of history included a process of strippin the identity, the culture, the history, family structure, human rights, and last but not least, religion. Now Im no theologist, but I do know that whoever the enslaved Africans worshipped, those deities are no longer acknowledged due to time. But ironically enough, the image of the captors of the slaves, were now what was equated to the new and improved deity, and the rejection of this idea was equated with death and eternal damnation. Pretty messed up right? But it got worse. Evidence began to arise that not only was Jesus a man of color, but just about everyone mentioned in the Bible was as well. So not only was that idea immorally wrong, but it was factually wrong as well! But wait, it still got worse. Even when new knowledge has been attained, nothin was done to correct the errors. It seems that this European Jesus image had been force fed for all these years, and it only represented by sheer perfection, . . . and then once a man of color is used to represent the Son of God, its in the exact and total opposite direction! So basically it sends a message: people of color arent good enough to receive due credit by bein used to depict Jesus, but when they are used, use the perpetuation of stereotypes towards which ethnic group? Thats right, African Americans, and do so in a disrespectfully, blasphemous manner! I sincerely feel ALL depictions of people mentioned in the Bible should be of Middle Eastern descent. So this depiction is wrong from the standpoint of the incorrect ethnic group, but its also wrong from the standpoint of religion as well. The captors are still promotin the image of Jesus the wrong way and it shouldnt be accepted. If it was Jewish Jesus, Latino Jesus, Asian Jesus, Australian Jesus, or Antarctic Jesus, Id be equally as willin to reject this show. And even if the religious figure was from a different religion, it would still be wrong. Peoples religious views and opinions, (or even lack of religious views and opinions), should be respected. Theres too many different people with different mindsets to be insensitive and ignorant! I love everyone no matter what. But the basis of my love is founded on respect. And if one respects me, Ill go outta my way to reciprocate that.
