Oh dear, I was just quoted on 2UE again by Stuart Bocking! He read out my email: One thing that was missing in the excellent discussion on Q & A last night was this: Police swooped and did a big raid because they had intelligence that indicated these people were not only saying they were going to commit an act of violence, but that they were making specific arrangements and plans to do so. Saying youre going to do something is one thing, but making specific plans to do so is another. It means its highly likely the action will be carried out. The same applies to terrorists, whether theyre Muslim, Christian or Catholic. If people say theyre going to do something, take them seriously. If they start to talk about specific plans to take action, it means theyre about to take action. This is why police did the raid. They had information that indicated that action was imminent. I really wish Michael Keenan or Mark Dreyfus had had the presence of mind to say that if they had had intelligence that indicated Christians, Catholics, or people of any other religion were making specific plans and making specific directives to commit a violent act, of course they would be raided!!
