Oh, how I have come to love this little baby. It has been a little difficult today as I try to figure out what God wants me to do regarding Sarahs future. I know, just like Sandy Wayne, Little Sarah was sent here for a reason, I just dont know what that is yet. I have decided that we WILL take Sarah to her medical appointment at Auburn University on July 16th, and see what they have to say. In the mean while, we will try to raise all the funds we can in hopes to be able to have whatever testing they recommend, done. I will do everything possible to keep Sarah in our family, but it would be so selfish of me to do that without allowing her all of the medical options available to her. So some difficult decisions will need to be made over the next few weeks. Sarah is progressing well and does not have any serious issues that require immediate attention, so I feel we do have some time, but do not want to delay in fear of allowing permanent issues to set in. Her head is growing a little bit, with the exception of the bald / flat spot on the front/top portion of her head. The skin and tissue underneath the scarred/bald spot are fused to the bony skull area and the skin and other tissue surrounding that area are continuing to grow and are very loose and pliable (hope this makes sense). She is still very energetic, eating and using the potty well. She is regressing a little in the potty training area, which could just be the puppy stages she is going through. She has some issues with the sinus passage and needs to sleep with her head elevated, or she sometimes becomes strangled. Because of this, she sleeps in a playpen right beside my bed and is monitored at all times. She has spells where she gets real tired and sleeps more than we think she should, but when she does get up, she is active and pretty alert. She runs and plays with Faith like any other puppy would. She does get a little lost if I get out of her view and when I call her while outside, she sometimes goes the opposite direction looking for me, as if she is experiencing some hearing issues, or some sort of confusion in her processing and focus. But, for the most part, I feel there is nothing urgent, and if this changes we will arrange for her to see the doctor immediately. I ask for your prayers in making the right decisions for Sarah and the care of any other animals, whether they are permanent family members or foster babies. We are committed to continuing the Sandy Wayne mission as long as we continue to recieve the support of our Sandy Wayne family. I have received your messages following our morning post, regarding us doing an auction. This is wonderful that you all are willing to donate items to be auctioned, but I have no idea how to do this type of thing. I saw a couple of other comments regarding asking Sandy Wayne Family to make a commitment or pledge for an amount that they will be sending. Since we do have a little time, I would prefer not to take pledges, rather wait for the actual funds to be sent. I have outlined the ways to donate in this mornings post, which can be found on Sandy Waynes page. Please know that any donations sent will be used specifically for the medical evaluation and treatment for our Sarah, and I will post all receipts of the monies spent. Sarah came to live with us on 6/17 and to date, we have spent the following on her vet care: 6/18 - $57.22 6/19 - $84.96 6/26 - $$90.33 6/28 - $116.00 We have been through some high times and some very low ones as we have worked with these babies, especially the special needs ones. They steal your heart before you even know they are around, and I am so glad we are able to share them with so many people from around the world. Because of you all, I know that I am not in this alone and you are standing right along side me, helping me as we go along. Thank you my friends for loving our Sandy Wayne, then for accepting and loving our Amazing Grace, and now for the love and kindness you are showing to our Sarah. All of these babies, plus Lewis were considered special Needs babies, but the most special part of them is their hearts. How can we deny them the love and happiness they so deserve. Enjoy your evening and remember to Pay it Forward.
