Oh how I would so love to see the reality-based martial arts gurus prove the claims they make their street lethal ad copy for the karate magazines or stripmall dojo in this venue. No secret training, just use the crap they are selling under these competitive conditions while these guys are hell bent on issuing a beat down with prize money on the table. A concealed carry permit, pepper spray, situational awareness, a good pair of running shoes and the gift of the gab are the truly effective reality-based defenses. Anyone telling you different probably either watched Roadhouse too many times or is trying to sell you something.
