Oh how great are Gods riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and His ways! Romans 11:33 As Christians we learn that Gods ways are not our ways and that we should not rely on our own understanding. Society teaches that our ways are the way. Society places value on our own success and achievement and winning for the sake of winning. Gods values are those that He gives us from within, kindness, compassion, love for fellow man, and gentleness. Society has obviously misplaced these values. Most people today would rather have a son playing football for a pro sports team than be a social worker changing peoples lives. Dont get me wrong, if God places you as a pro sports player to better His kingdom (Tebow) then that is different. But in most cases it is just to better their own achievements and to boast that they do it all on their own for their own advancement. I see it all the time at ball parks where kids are obviously pushed into competing in sports by overzealous parents. Parents living vicariously through their children who get personal and start yelling at the ump, at the kids or at each other and all of sudden a fight begins. The kids on the other hand are just trying to play a game that has been made unfun by their parents. Societys values are all backwards as evidenced by the fact that we pay the pro athletes and entertainers way more than teachers or social workers. We need to get back to goals based on Gods values, humility, hunger for truth and righteousness, and things that have eternal value and importance rather than temporal ones. Societies values are temporary, power, status, awards, fame and wealth. Lets stay focused on Gods values and help others find the flaws in the worlds values and maybe we can make this a better place to live in. Have a great and blessed Saturday everyone.
