Oh lord; Suzanne has opened up a treasure trove of memories. I - TopicsExpress

Oh lord; Suzanne has opened up a treasure trove of memories. I loved the Rainbow Café and the Ice Cream Barn that Mel owned (I think that was the name of it). It was filled with video games and since you got called a, Pool Hall Maiden back in those days if you dared yo into Busters, it was about the only other place girls could hang out keeping reputations intact. I remember Millie well; she scared me to death once when I was little; not because she did anything wrong but because she poked her head into an open car window causing me to do an Olympic worthy vault from the front seat into the back. I also remember a man named Pete Storey that a lot of mornings when I would get taken to school would be asleep on the porch of the old feed mill there across from City Hall. Oh the stories that town could tell. My grandpa Hubert Kendrick used to embarrass me to death because if it was even supposed to thunder, there would come a knock at the classroom door and he would poke his head in and say, Come on Elizabeth; it is coming up a cloud and I would get taken home to wait out the coming storm.
