Oh my, the build up, lol! San Francisco 12/13/71 Test Reel - COPY! I thought I would post this since Dip started the SF 71 topic earlier today. About 7 years ago a reel was discovered in a UK recording studio, tagged The Who - Berkley 1972. Well, The Who didnt even play in the US in 1972 - upon playback, it was discovered that it must have been a test reel for consideration for the Whos/Twos Missing lp live tracks. As you can see, 4 of the tracks made it on to the Missing releases, although BDYDI on this test reel is totally uncut, and the uncut version didnt make it to cd until the 2011 Japan Missing reissue shm CDs. This version still has more stage banter on it though, before the song. Of course the one killer live track on here that didnt make it on any of the Missing versions is Wont Get Fooled Again! This live multitrack recording is totally complete with hilarious stage banter by Pete, before and after the song, discussing his Doc Marten boots and how high jumpers should be wearing these, and what not. Anyways, I was somehow able to wrangle a trade with one of the studio workers and thats how I got this little gem. Hopefully there will be a complete SF 71 release in the near future and this little test copy will be totally obsolete, lol! Cheers!
