Oh the Healthcare law deadline is here. Oh we shouldn’t have to - TopicsExpress

Oh the Healthcare law deadline is here. Oh we shouldn’t have to pay a fine. Oh it is a government over of healthcare. Give it a rest. For the record I have no sympathy for anyone facing a fine. And it will be even higher going forward in future years. I pay taxes so that your kids that I didn’t breed to go to school. I pay Medicare taxes so your granny can get a new hip or knee. I pay for airports when I rarely fly. I pay for flood insurance subsidies though I don’t live on the water or in a flood zone. I pay taxes to feed and shelter the working poor so that Walmart and McDonald and others can pay less than a living wage while getting all sorts of corporate tax breaks. It is less socialistic than Medicare or Social Security. Medicare is a wholly government run insurance program. The plans under the Affordable Care Act are issued by private insurance companies, not the government. And just like we subsidize the elderly and disabled who fall below a certain minimum in social security or social security disability payments with SSI, we are now going to subsidize those making below a certain amount to buy health insurance. OMG you would think the heavens were falling. And the only reason the fat cats like the Koch brothers and the Walton family and others are so shrill is that they fear the government might slap some hefty taxes on the 24% of the nation’s wealth that is possessed by the top 1% in this country. That is right 3.5 million who possess $15,600,000,000,000 of the nation’s total wealth. Let’s think about that, it might be a good place to get some revenue not just for healthcare but maybe that massive federal debt. Hell if we just stopped the corporate subsidies we could do that without raising tax rates on anyone but that would mean we stop subsidizing billionaires and their corporations.
