Oh the drama at my house!!! I feel like Old McDonald had a farm. With wild animals not farm animals! Since the skunks in my house, Cole heard something early Tuesday morning. He got his flash light looked in the heat duct and what to his wondering eyes should appear. Oh that is a Christmas story not Old McDonald. Anyway what did his wondering eye see a packrat! Oh yeah that is right. So apparently there is a hole in the heat duct somewhere also! Cole went and bought a live trap yesterday. I set it outside the hole going under the house. I heard it snap shut about 4:50am. I waited to look at it when I got up for school this morning! Low and behold it was not a packrat. Oh no it was my friendly skunk!!!! I woke Cole up and told him. He what are we going to do? I had no idea. I thought for awhile. Remember I waited to look until I was getting out of bed to go to school. I did not have extra time! I got a table cloth that I used for the puppies, went around the house threw it over the trap. I could hear it spraying. Then I smelled it! Holy crap the odor is nothing when one gets hit on the road and you drive by it! Of coarse I missed half of the trap. I ran got a rake went back finished covering it up. Put it on a tarp drug it out to the field. It flipped over twice the first time I pulled the tarp so it was covered up again. The second time I grabbed the table cloth and ran away from it. Cole shot it. Craig was nominated to get the skunk out of the trap!!!!! I stopped at the vet and they had this stuff called Skunk Off. It works really well. I made a ramp that goes up to a trash can filled with water. The live trap is sitting on top of the trash can. I have a piece of plywood and a rope connected to it. When the animal gets in there I will pull the rope. It will dump the live trap into the trash can. The animal will have a drink! I thought it was mean but that smell is TOO much! Oh the life I lead!
