*******Oh, the shame of it******** Ive a shameful confession. I was in Waterstones Swansea yesterday, browsing the childrens book section. My wife was in another shop and, I was waiting for her. A lady and her, (I presume, 12yr old daughter) were looking for books. They grabbed a couple of paperbacks randomly. I stood there...and said Excuse me, does your daughter like fantasy and adventure? Oh yes, the mother replied, she just loves reading, in general. I shamelessly said...This book is filled with adventure and fantasy. Pointing to: the curious world of shelley vendor. I know-I know, it was a desperate attempt to sell one of mine, and I was on a high. Oh OK, she said, and picked it up, and both giggled at the blurb. I left it a while, until theyd sampled some more and put some back. Are you going to purchase that one? I said, cheekily. Yes, I think so, the woman answered. Im about to go, I said, but, I could sign that for you as Im the author. Oh, the woman cooed, this is the author Rachel, she relayed to her daughter, who looked on, nonplussed. So, at the till, after theyd paid - I signed the book, to the narrow-eyed, curiosity of the sales assistant, and left. There, Ive said it and and cant take it back. Sorry everyone, but not really!
