Oh wow. That was... I cant even explain it. I know these posts are probably getting a little annoying, but I... I have to post about this one. No bullshit, no anecdotes. None of the normal antics that surround my normal posts about Anime this time. Anime film: Wolf Children Ame And Yuki I uh... Im not sure if I can call this an Anime. Well, its Japanese and its animated, so I guess it falls into that category. Well, whether or not its considered Anime isnt really the problem. Its like... could you consider Romeo and Juliet to be just a play? What about Macbeth? Could you consider Beethovens symphonys just music? (Alright, sorry, there is a little bit of shenanigans in this post) Wolf Children Ame And Yuki is the tale of a 19 year old college girl who falls in love with a wolf man and the family they made. If I were to say anymore than this, it would ruin any impact the movie has at all. I will, however, say that the movie spans 13 years, starting from when they met. There were many powerful scenes in this movie. For those of you whove watched it, you know which scenes Im talking about. Specifically the First Rain Scene, Snow Scene, the Car Scene, the Fight Scene, and just about anything within 10 minutes of the ending. These Scenes, and many more, pack a heavy wallop to the heart strings. The music was phenomenal. As was the art style, and especially the landscapes. This film delivers the story in such a beautiful manner, I often found myself having to rewind, as I was too busy just looking at everything instead of reading the subtitles. The voice actors were perfect to, from the laughing to the anger to the crying, it all felt real. About the ending (Spoiler-ish Free). A lot of people seem to be displeased with the ending. I found it to be very... right. Right. It doesnt wrap everything into a nice bow, it doesnt give a definitive conclusion to the story. But, I feel that it was right. The turmoil was over, but life still continues on. And I feel like the open ended ending is very true of life. Just because a story is over, doesnt mean life grinds to a halt, it means that new stories are beginning, and the Movie isnt about those stories. A lot of people wanted more closure as to what Ame and Yuki (the wolf children) did with their lives. However, they fail to realize that this story REALLY wasnt about Ame and Yuki, but instead their parents. Anyhow, fantastic movie, fantastic Anime. I recommend it to everyone, even if you arent a big fan of Slice-of-Life Anime.
