For best results on your computer avoid trying to make a 4 cylinder vehicle (processor) run like a V8-it aint gonna happen no matter what kind of junk you put on it from the Internet. This report is based on hundreds of computers serviced. Only install ONE antivirus/internet security program, and only one firewall. We have found catastrophic failure on PCs from Windows XP up to the newest Windows 8 where customers have installed software that promised miracles. Here are a few we have found commonly installed on computers in serious trouble. Now either they messed things up, or they arent worth the breath to say their name let alone install them. Check it out on your PC they might have already done their destruction! - CCleaner - Malware Bytes - Registry cleaners...just about all of them - Multiple Antivirus and Internet security programs installed at once - Google Chrome- highjacks your browser controls... - Browser ToolBars either contains spyware, or they opens ports that allow spyware and viruses to get in. - P2P (Peer-to-peer) programs should really be: Free Larceny lessons There are many threats out there on the Internet, and Ill bet if you werent in trouble already users would not install them in the first place! Viruses are bad news, but conflicts can be just as damaging. If you think youre saving money by using old software thats not specifically designed for your computer operating system, the only one youre fooling is yourself. Program installers look for special folders to place critical files during the installation process. Microsoft Windows developers have done a great job scrambling those folders so that programs will not install at all, or crash when you try to start them. Worst yet some install and run for a very short instant then fail miserably. Final thought: -Do every Windows update available -Use one tested and trustworthy Antivirus solution, I recommend AVG Antivirus or Internet Security. It has the least amount of conflicts and uses the smallest amount of processor and RAM, so things work smoother! -Never trust your computers ability to stay running. It is not IF your computer will fail, but WHEN...backup, backup, backup on an external drive. If all this does not help...buy a Mac they are built upon a proven strong Unix based system. Virus developers would be out of business if there lifes goal were to infiltrate successfully the Mac system. Of course they cost 3 to 4 times what medium grade PC does, so dont get excited about them until you see their sticker price. Technician notes
