Ohh man please do not give our your Insurance Policy number to a contractor. Just today I took call from a woman that had give her policy number to a roofer a couple of days earlier. Come to find out, a false claim had been filed under her husbands name and was in the motion moving forward. Bottom line, her roof may need to be replaced and it may be true that she needs to file a claim. That said there is absolutely no reason why a contractor should file the claim for her. Unfortunately, 97% of roofing contractors would see nothing wrong with this. Check HB1183. This roofer already committed one crime, what on earth would give anyone the idea that they would follow up that crime by installing a good roof.
