Ohio State football: Police investigate Hyde case A weekend incident at a Downtown club involving Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde continues to be investigated by Columbus police. Hyde, 22, was named as a “person of interest” in a police report filed by a 19-year-old woman early Saturday morning. A zone investigator is looking into the report, in which the woman told an officer that she was assaulted by a man at the Sugar Bar 2, 303 S. Front St., Sgt. Rich Weiner, a Police Division spokesman, said yesterday. Zone investigators are officers who work in the strategic-response bureau and investigate misdemeanor crimes. The woman told the officer she did not know her assailant but would recognize him, according to the report. Weiner said the investigator will reach out to the victim, the accused and their witnesses and will review any surveillance video. “It’s important to let the investigation move forward both for the rights of the victim and the rights of the accused,” Weiner said. Hyde was suspended by coach Urban Meyer on Monday, pending the result of the investigation.
