Ok - this poses thought-provoking questions. Having worked in and for charities over decades and donated a lot of cash and time - to a lot of different causes - I am always irritated when I hear of people who naively think you can attract and keep the very best strategists, business leaders, volunteers and staff by paying them crappy wages and treating them like the poor cousins of the economy. The charitable sector drives economic, community and developmental growth in this society And its time we all started believing in its power and potential. It takes money to make money, people. No joke. Put competent leaders on the Boards and in the executive suites and charities will spend wisely, grow exponentially and deliver beyond their mission. Starve their talent and those they serve will not be helped and your donations will be wasted.
