Ok--I have not updated much lately, been extremely busy, but a good busy. I went into a "funk" earlier this year and did a lot of soul searching and transformations in my life--physically, mentally and deep down in my soul. I kept thinking there has to be more, I cannot keep working as hard as I do to see a computer be faster, better and more whatever Despite what some may think I am a people person and I moved away from that after I left teaching many years ago and embarked on my corporate career and got involved with technology in healthcare and then government and general industry. I am still not what I would consider your typical "IT" guy, I am not about bits and bytes but more about how to make the information work better and be used in a meaningful way. This was good for me but there still was more that I needed in my life. Coincidentally at a technology event earlier this year I met an amazing group of people who were so dedicated to their cause I needed to learn more. The organization is called Tender Care Human Services (tendercareny.org) based in Jamaica Queens. That in and of itself was an omen for me as that is where I spent my early years in Rosedale Queens, so we hit it off immediately. Tender Care provides specialized services to those suffering with Autism, developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. Recently I have gotten involved with their organization and am helping them with their technology and operational needs. As a result of some of the changes we are putting into place TCHS is planning a major expansion into PA and then CT and then who knows! they will be able to serve many more people in a much more efficient and effective manner, I could not be any more happier with the direction this has taken, I am able to continue leading IMR, the great company I have been at for years but also help an organization that is made up of amazing individuals providing services that are desperately needed. I think I have finally found that perfect balance, now if there were only more hours in a day.
