Ok, Facebook friends: Dallas Independent School District had verified the signatures submitted as a petition to change DISD to a home-rule charter district. I am, now, officially beginning to be one of the 15 commission members the Board of Trustees is bound by statute to appoint. The law calls for the commission to comprise at least 8 parents and 4 teachers. As a longtime DISD and Dallas taxpayer, the parent of a BTWHSPVA sophomore and a teacher of both AP English and AP US history, I submit that I meet all standards of the legal requirements. We are all awaiting news of the commission application and selection process, but I am posting here, and will be approaching you all individually, to ask for your support of my candidacy for this position. I thank you in advance for any support you can provide me in this 30-day window for appointing the commission.
