Ok. Haven just gotten burned AGAIN on promises made to take lessons, giving away things before appointments, and then having it cancelled. Ive changed immediately ... my approach. Thank you Janet for pushing me to do so. Existing long time client writes yesterday night with daughters new dog attacking her dog. Puppy has been leading up to it. Asked for help, advice and guidance. Normally, I help with free links, guidance, spend time on the phone and then make an appointment. This time I said: Sure, it will be $500 for privates plus mileage, can you give me some dates to work with? I followed that with questions about the scenario NOT requiring in-depth responses. Next email from client early this morning: That would be great, can you come tomorrow? It is important to note it is only Thursday am. and within the last 24 hours I got two new private clients by handling it just this way. Why the hell didnt I just start out laying out the ground work, pay me and Ill help you anyway you want. Stupid, stupid, stupid me. Did I say stupid me? From now on, I will go out of my way to help above and beyond AFTER I get paid. The rescue groups always get help without obligations.
