Ok, I guess Im going to put on a little rant. For those Im about to offend I apologize, (kinda). There seem to be this growing multitude of survivalists that are convinced that they can run off to the Northwoods or the mountains and live a certain lifestyle. These are the people that live in relative comfort in the urban areas, who, at the last moment are going to gra their backpack and take to the woods. They have guns, knives, bows, heirloomseeds, fire starters, well..... You get the drift. And, from what I see, many of them are deluding themselves, I.E., the weather is always warm, there is plenty of game, and not another living soul within hearing ddistance of a gunshot. These are not the realists. Then there are the bush/woodcrafters. These practice their craft, gleaning knowledge, honing skills to go into the wilderness and survive. But, how many have the ingenuity, skills, and temerity to sustain themselves full-time, year round? I think not too many. So, let me pose a question. Say for the sake of arguement that you were plunked down in a true wilderness in North Americas great boreal forest.....in the middle of January. You will be there for one month. You have your kit, but nothing else besides the clothes on your back. You must feed, shelter, and keep yourself warm. The temperature is in the single digits during the day, and falling below zero after dark. Heres the question: can you do it? Aaannndd Go!
