Ok I just writing this post to weight the pros and cons from buying from Ultrasabers and Saberforge. As Saberforge is going to release 3 budget models in the next few days, its good for us to know a bit more on these 2 companies. 1. Budget Stunt Sabers Prices (No sound) - Ultrasabers starts from USD 54.99 all the way to USD 99.99. Around 37 different hilts to choose from. If you just choose the standard setup all should be within this price range. Only 4 LED colours are free the rest need to add USD 5 or USD 10 for their forum colours. - Saberforge will introduce 3 budget models that starts from USD 49 for hilt only. Their Warrior edition will add a blade and LED (no extra cost for any of the 13 colours) for another USD 50. So their cheapest saber with blade is USD 99.00. But you have 3 options to choose from compared to 37 from Ultrasabers. 2. Budget Sound Sabers Prices - Ultrasabers starts from USD 199.99 to USD 239.99 USD with 30 choices of hilts. Ultrasabers uses the Obsidian sound board which you can customised all the sounds on the saber via a computer. It comes standard with 2x 3.7v 900 mAh rechargable Li-Ion batteries and charger. Batteries need to be taken out of the saber everytime when a recharge is needed. No in hilt charging and kill key which cost another USD 150.00. - Saberforge with its 3 budget models will be on their Champion edition (plus USD 200) so this makes their prices around USD 249. The BIG difference is that it includes a 3400 mAh in hilt recharge upgrade, with smart charger, and kill key. For Ultrasabers to include the in hilt recharge with kill key need to add another USD 150 !! on top of the saber price. This will put Ultrasaber prices between USD 349.99 and USD 389.99 if compare feature by feature. Saberforge sound board can change its settings in hilt without the need of a computer, but it will not be able to change to different sound fonts unless you get their next Hero tier edition. 3. Delivery Time - Ultrasabers takes around 7 to 10 days to deliver after order is completed. - Saberforge takes around 8 to 12 WEEKS 4. Quality / Design This is very subjective so after studying user feedback for past few months this seems to be in favour to Saberforge. My Manticore and 2 of my Initiates came with scratches on the hilt and I dont think this is cause by delivery. I read a lot of ex-Ultrasabers users selling their sabers to replace them with Saberforges. But the Ultrasaber forums are much more active with more user support if you have any questions there. I am still waiting for my first Saberforge saber to arrive to I will give more comments on this later :) 5. Movie Canon saber designs - Saberforge 1. Redeemer aka Obi wan Kenobi saber EP4 2. Prodigal Son aka Luke Skywalker saber EP6 3. Guardian aka Qui-Gon Jinn saber EP1 4. Rebel aka Kanan saber in SW Rebels TV series - Ultrasabers 1. Consular aka Qui-Gon Jinn saber EP1 2. The Graflex aka Luke Skywalker saber EP 4 and 5 3. Chosen One aka Darth Vader saber EP 4,5,6 4. The Guardian aka Obi-wan Kenobi EP1 (scale a bit too large) Other sabers are mostly based on Star Wars Legends (previously Expanded Universe) which include games (Kotor, TOR) and book/comics. So these are non-Canon. Ok to summaries - Ultrasabers are the cheapest option for budget stunt sabers. - Saberforge are the best value for sound sabers. - Ultrsabers are ultra fast in their delivery if you need a saber in a hurry. - If you need sound customisation, go Ultrsabers. If you want fast sound setting changes, go Saberforge. - Most of Ultrasabers hilts are MHS compatible so you can exchange their pommel, bodies, emitter with other MHS compatible sabers in Ultrasabers. Saberforge sabers cannot do that as they use proprietary designs. - Ultrasabers saber activation button protrudes out on the hilt surface while Saberforge resides in the hilt making it more streamline. Please note that all the prices above does not include shipping charges and customs taxes. That need to be worked out during the group order. Thanks for reading folks, I hope to provide these info as accurate as possible to help those in the next orders in 2015. I have spend the past 3 months studying both sabersmiths so I got a pretty good idea on their ins and outs. Feel free to add or ask any questions as I might not be 100% correct haha.
