Ok, I know the healthcare issues in the US have created a lot of controversy and confusion, so here is our experience in case anyone hasnt quite known what would happen: After some frustration to get logged into the site and some glitches with entering our information (maybe 45 mins) we were able to see about 19 plans for health and dental coverage. Being small business owners, Dave and I have a hard time getting good coverage that is affordable because we are not part of a larger group through an employer. We ended up selecting a plan that is fairly similar to the one we had in terms of copays and deductibles, but that had some added perks like maternity and prescription med coverage. We will be covered starting on the first of the year and will save $173 per month compared to our current plan ($303/mo now versus $130/mo on Jan 1). For us this program is an incredibly good thing, it means we can eventually have kids because I can get maternity coverage and saving over $2,000 a year is huge for us, especially as new small business owners. I just wanted to let anyone who has been frustrated or nervous to try this new system know that it might be very worthwhile for you to check it out. Im sure not everyone will have such a good experience as we have, but it is worth a look.
