Ok, I usually never speak up or be part of any discussion about Kizomba when it s not constructive, and prefer stick to what I love to do... But I m deeply starting to get tired of all the comments, negativities, and opportunist people who keeps bringing down the Kizomba scene in New York City ! I m very SAD to hear that people outside think that there is tension and bad energy ??? why ??? because of some comments and miscommunication ... what I see me is a growing scene with a lot of beautiful people with an amazing energy and passion for the dance !!! I call them my kizomba Familly !!! All my students are more friends than students !!! For my part, I started teaching kizomba in early 2011... With 7 classes a week and an average of 30 students/classes, I dont think I m drying the scene but more fill it up ! About working with other teachers and promoters ? We did it successfully sometimes, but is that has to be all the time ??? We all have our own style, different vision, approach, and qualities that we put in our teaching, classes and parties... Collaboration is not always easy... It doesnt mean it never happened or will not in the future. People use to complain about having not enough Kizomba party... Now they complain there is too much ? I know that we are not as big as salsa or Bachata, but nobody force anybody to attend all the parties... Pick the one where you feel comfortable and match with your lifestyle, busy schedule, location, time, style of music played... The Kizomba scene is always evolving, it s not always the same people, we all got tired, life changing etc... You can not expect to see the same people in the dance floor for several years... It doesnt mean the scene is bad ... I was very sick for a year, then had a baby.. Of course I can t attend to all the parties... It doesnt mean We don t support ! Anyway, please start to appreciate the works and energy put to get the community bigger, and stop criticizing and complaining... TREAT IT with RESPECT Because our kizomba scene is first YOURS, and YOU ARE THE ONES WHO MAKE IT ALIVE .. Same for every party promoters and teachers !
