Ok, NEWS FLASH!!!! In case you missed it... I am the proud wife of a police officer, I have many friends who are police officers, and am friends with hundreds of police wives. If you want to talk trash about police officers, that is your right, but do me the respect of deleting me as your friend before you do so. Your opinions and reposts are disrespectful, 9 times out of 10 they are biased and only tell half the story, they gain their popularity on the internet by causing outrage and hatred because they are not representative of what actually occurred, and unless you know the whole story - BOTH sides - you look like a fool for posting half-baked opinions based on some blip you saw on the internet and felt the need to share. There are bad cops, yes. But there are lemons in EVERY profession, and everywhere you turn in life you will encounter a person whose actions ping at the very core of your conscious and what you believe to be good and right. Those stories dont get the media attention that cops get because they are not as controversial. Youve got the law and youve got those outside of the law. Im pretty sure there are those outside the law that LOVE and thrive on pointing out the times police did something wrong. It takes the attention away from them, if the police officers are all bad, that vindicates them and makes them look better than they are. Bad rap, unfair arrest, entrapment, being picked on, profiled... pick one, they all have a story, just none of it includes any personal accountability for how they came to be in contact with the damn police in the first place. The police uphold the law, the prosecutor decides whether or not you go before a judge. But its the fault of the police right? Unless you had a crappy lawyer, then you can blame him/her too. If you were convicted, you had a crappy lawyer. I am tired of people being the victim of the police and the system rather than taking accountability for their actions and realizing the common denominator in their problems in their life is themselves. Think of all the bad experiences you have had with people: doctors, contractors, city employees, banks/creditors, teachers... Pick one. Pick any one. There are bad people everywhere but they are the exception in the police world, NOT the rule. Its one of the few professions out there that requires a psych eval to get the job. I wish I could make my potential friends get a psych eval, it would save me a lot of heart ache. So really, if you cant be respectful to me, the wife as a police officer, delete me. I dont want to see your garbage and Im not going to defend a profession that keeps your ass safe every night. If you want to be a police basher, Im not the person you want on your friends list and I certainly dont want you on mine.
