Ok. So weve been talking a lot about art the last day or so and I keep getting the urge to post this, so here you go. This painting was done in 1967 (stretching the MCM a tiny bit) by Alfredo Santos, using driftwood/wood of some kind and paint. Its three dimensional and quite collage-like. I was visiting my local Goodwill one day when I turned around and saw it. My heart started beating fast and I got very excited. (I like it. A LOT.) The colors are rich and beautiful and it changes depending on how the light hits it because the 3D aspect creates shadows that move. I did a bit of research on the artist and discovered an interesting tidbit. Turns out that he was incarcerated at San Quentin in the 50s for heroin possession and while there, painted a huge mural in the cafeteria that is still there today. Anyway, I love it and I wanted to share. Let me know what you think of it. My boyfriend thinks its something hed find hanging in a barber shop in the late 60s! Hes not really a fan. ;-) m.sfweekly/sanfrancisco/hidden-treasure/Content?oid=2148776
