Ok, friends. Have you had, or do you know anyone that has ever had, a salivary gland stone? I didnt even know there was such a thing! Ive been doing some research online, but I had to stop because I was freaking myself out....I tend to do that A LOT! I have a knot under my jawbone thats almost the size of a marble. It just popped up there suddenly. My doctor isnt in, so I had to see another doctor. I assumed it was a lymph node or something since Ive been dealing with sinuses for weeks now. He informed me that it was definitely in a salivary gland and that it was likely either a stone or a tumor. (A tumor???? NO! I will not even consider that option!!!) He gave me an antibiotic for 7 days and told me to make an appt with my doc as soon as he gets back next week. This didnt make sense to me (I mean, how is an antibiotic going to have any effect on a stone???) until I began researching it. Apparently the stone can block the duct to the gland and result in an infection. Im just really freaking out having to wait an entire week to see my doctor to get the necessary testing done to discover what this actually is! Im hoping some of you have had this and can (somehow) help to put my mind at rest.
