Ok, here is my situation. I was having a phone discussion with a fellow who presented some creative gymnastics with the so-called Four horsemen of the Apocalypse in Revelation 6. He had the Pope as the rider of the WHITE horse because of his white robe, white Pope-mobile,etc. He had the RED horse symbolizing all of the communist countries with red flags, as China, etc. He said the BLACK horse pictured famine. But then, he said the GREEN horse pictured the Islamic nations that generally have green flags... GREEN HORSE?, I asked. Yes, he replied, in the Greek it says green rather than pale. The Greek word for pale is rendered elsewhere in the KJV as green, for example: Mark 6:39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the GREEN grass. Also here: Revelation 9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any GREEN thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. What else can I tell this fellow, other than the fact that the KJV translators rendered a word various ways depending on the broadness of the Greek word, and the context in which it was used? This fellow is a new acquaintance, and he is obviously not at all convinced of the correctness of the KJV words. I would like to help him get Rev. 6 straight, but even greater, would like to help him discover the pure words of God in the King James Bible. Advice?
