Ok, here’s my list for the book challenge. I usually don’t do - TopicsExpress

Ok, here’s my list for the book challenge. I usually don’t do such things, but this time I have 3 good reasons. First, I haven’t written anything for more than a week, so it’s a welcome excuse to write something. Also, I feel the idea of spreading book awareness isnt bad, especially for our generation. Lastly, why be that guy? So thx, Pratik Regmi and Sarguru Nathan for the tag. I’m not sure whether it’s top 10 fav books or 10 books that has inspired me, Ive seen both things. So I’m going with the mix of my fav books and the ones that inspired me. 10. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand – It’s an average book to be fair to the lady I once admired. Ayn Rand was an average writer at the best and her philosophy naive. But, she was unapologetic about both her writing and philosophy, and that’s why Ive enjoyed her books. Atlas Shrugged is the largest of all her books and it isnt something which you read a second time. But one reading was enough to inspire me and change my Marxist views. 9. The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus – One of the first philosophic books I read and my perspective of the world was changed forever. Ive enjoyed the fiction of Camus, but his two master non-fictions (Sisyphus and the Rebel) had a huge influence on me as a person. 8. The Old Man and The Sea by Hemingway – One of the earliest novels from my pre-teen days. I read it when I was ten or eleven and what a joy it was for a boy from the hills to see the imagery of the vast sea. Written in simple language, when I revisited the book last year, the depth in the simplicity of Hemingway is an inspiration for any writer. 7. Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky – Just take out the epilogue (Dostoevsky’s philosophical suicide) and you have one of the greatest minds in human history at work. The questions Dostoevsky raised, inspired giants like Nietzsche, Camus, etc. 6. Portrait of The Artist as a young man by James Joyce – Joyce is the master of us all. Enough said. Those were 5 books that inspired me, and now my 5 fav books. 5. Malgudi School Days – R.K. Narayan 4. Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Douglas Adams 3. Labyrinths – Jorge Luis Borges 2. Lord of the Flies – William Golding 1. Metamorphosis - Kafka Phew, I completed it. Now I look back and see I’ve missed Lolita, Candide, Catcher in the Rye, Great Expectations, Tom Sawyer… That’s why I hate making lists. Anyway, I’ve done my part. Now I don’t know whom to tag, so I’ll just tag 2 members of my gang, Tsewang Gyatso Bhutia and Lem Lana Targain. Also, Susan Koshy, Prajwal Kharel, Subha Pradhan, u guys flashed in my mind :p If you have already done it, or dont want to, then just ignore. If anyone read it, thx. Thats all...
