Ok, so I am finally going to say my piece. Ive watched the video, Ive read the interviews, and I listened to Robinson in his own words... My first issue is with Robinson saying he didnt know that the car had dealer tags. Seriously? He saw the little expired sticker on the windshield, but couldnt see the dealer tags on the car? The tags that are in full view the entire video? Second, I respect the law. I agree on the sole fact that from what I can see in the video, Mr. Vasquez did try to walk away from the officer, then jerk his arm away. When an officer is questioning you, just be respectful and answer their questions. Its that simple. HOWEVER, the events directly after that I would deem excessive. Mr. Vasquez posed no threat, never reached for any sort of concealed weapon. His hands were in full view the whole time. Third, I can admit I dont know what these officers see day in and day out. I dont know how many times their lives truly are in danger. To me it all comes down to respect. Respect the officer asking questions and answer them as honestly as possible. Dont be a smarta** or have an attitude. Things will go smoothly. The same respect is expected from the officer doing the questioning. Innocent until proven guilty. So dont walk up on someone all gun-ho and with an attitude. Do your job, gather the facts and act accordingly. Lastly, Mr. Vasquez Im sorry you had this experience. I truly hope you find forgiveness and healing in your heart. Mr. Robinson, I pray you have learned from this and that you or your family are not targeted in retaliation. All these recent stories about police boils down to respect. If we respected each other, respected the law, respected those sworn to protect it, and those who wear the badge respected everyone else; there would be no headlines to argue over.
