Ok so I have been seeing this post about the young lady from Elysian Fields being expelled for her hair being red and not natural, mind you she is an excellent student ok......as a parent I just have to say really!!!!!!!!! When these kids get out of school they will have to conform to a workplace dress code and such, well in some places not all. I think we are focused on the wrong things, we are so busy trying to conform these kids to the image we think they should be when in reality your only job is to educate them. The color of their hair, earrings or any other type of expression that they are using at this stage in life has nothing to do with their ability to learn. I mean come on seriously take time to get to know these kids and develop a relationship with them and you might just find their expression or uniqueness is what makes them feel special. Im sure there will be many that disagree and hey I am cool with that, because you have your rights and I have mine. So do our kids!!!!! A 50s style haircut on a boy does not make him a better student just because thats the way you were raised! I understand not being provocative thats a given but the rest is just our own personal opinion and it really is outdated! It is the same way in the church oh yes I am going to go there! We wanna decide how they should walk talk and act as soon as they walk through the door! That my dear brothers and sisters is the job of THE HOLY SPIRIT! I am so tired of seeing the same ole same ole rituals and customs that have never saved anybody being used! The Pharasees and Saducees were the same way. Get out of the way and let God be God, He is able! Our silly little customs and personal beliefs that we so dearly hold on to are very tiring for someone who is just trying to find the truth, THE TRUTH THAT IS JESUS, the fact that He was crucified before the foundation of the earth, the truth that He and He alone died that whosoever believes in Him should have everlasting life. Not whosoever cuts their hair above their ears and parts it on the side or whatever(you get my meaning).Come on if you are not being part of the solution for a hurting and dying world, and this most certainly means our kids too ( even the hard-headed, stubborn ones) then DONT BE PART OF THE PROBLEM! So go ahead throw some scripture at me, It will not change my mind. I read my Bible, I have a relationship with the Truth that is Jesus, yep me that tattooed lady that everybody thinks is crazy and trashy. Go ahead I can take it, but leave these kids alone they are trying in a very hard and mean world to find their way, give them a hand up and a little love and understanding come on please!
