Ok so I have seen some amazing people on this group that will come to the aid of anyone that asks. It truly touches my heart on a level that I have never experienced. I figured I would post this up, and if the admins want to remove it please feel free to do so. 2 years ago when my father was diagnosed at Stage 4 cancer I hit a low. I literally spent the entire time in the medical library while he was getting chemo. I literally taught myself very rudimentary genetics when it came to cancer. During this process I discovered a program that was developed by BOINC and UCal Berkeley and used in conjunction with groups like World Community Grid. All it takes is for the user to install the software on your computer and select which studies you would like to take part in. In my case I donated computer time to both Cancer research of any kind as well as research into Diabetes. What the program does while running in the background is help process information for the researchers running the project, in short your making a world wide cluster computer. Some of the projects just helped rule out if a novel agent was any good and if it required further research. It is with this that I come to this group to see if we can put a team together. Myself in 1 year I donated roughly 5 + years of research to these groups (I run 5 systems and had another 3 chipping into the team I led). My hope is we can get a team going together for this group and help out the researchers doing this work. Let me know what your thoughts are and if anyone is interested. Even if we find 1 project that we can help it will be a blessing to any person who will be on the receiving in. Take a look at worldcommunitygrid.org for more information. Like this group, WGC does amazing work albeit with no money, just time on your computer while you are running it already. Hope everyone has a great night and a wonderful day tomorrow.
