Ok, so ..I was overdue for total paranoia episode when, as listened to Chris Hayes on MSNBC cover the events in the Ukraine that are being touted as a potential Cold War revival, I had my paranoid epiphany. As you may have heard, Venezuela is going through the same kind of upheaval as the Ukraine, People are being shot and specifically students are gearing to have conflicts with he local uniformed and non-uniformed forces. You may have also noticed that comparatively there has been much more limited coverage of the latter conflict than of the first. Well, here is the paranoid moment; What if the actual goal was to distract from the Venezuela events so that the grip of this neo Socio-Communism could finally take an open hold of the oil gushing country and , gateway to the rest of the south? I recall reading in some world book or other that Venezuelan military could fire continuously in a battle lasting only 36 hours before exhausting all resources. But, if they were to be able to interfere with trade in the Caribbean and the South American countries to which it (Venezuela) is a virtual gateway, it could severely cripple industries in the U.S. that depend on that trade without ever firing a shot (at someone that could shoot back that is!). Or, if you really want to go Aldous Huxley or even John Grisham in full paranoid motif then, how about waking up on day in the future with Russia looking to cross over to Sara Palins house while the most (if not all) of Central / South America is waiting for the chance to come crushing though our borders? A time when the long unattended Southern continent has been allowed to become an anti American haven brimming with Chinese nationals, Muslims , Cuban entrepreneurs, etc. united and training the locals for an all out fight at our doorsteps. Is that really so far fetched or, is the thought just sheer paranoia what do you think?
