I was an extremely shy kid who wanted nothing but to listen to music. My Mom says she bought me a tri-cycle when I was 3 but I never rode it. I would turn it on its side, put a 45 on the wheel and spin it around hoping it would make a sound. I didnt believe the story but she SWEARS its true. Right Ma (Jacqueline Powell)? 02. Although Im a professed music lover, I respect Reggae as a culture, can take a song or 2 but it doesnt warm my spirit. I can take the bluesy side of soul and jazz but cant take blues head on and I cant stand country music. (And you already knew that I wasnt much of a fan of JB or MJ) 03. I was very active in church and on the gospel scene. Sang in and / or directed various choirs. A few of them award winning but I left the church all together by 1990. 04. Was in a production of Aint Misbehavin. It was fun but I had a hard time with stage fright when it came down to my solo. 05. I modeled semi professionally in the early 90s at the same time held down my 5 year gig at McDonalds lol. 06. I worked in a scrap yard running a forklift, bobcat and sorted cast iron and metals for 4 years. Many couldnt picture me doing it. Would come home FILTHY but physical I was in tip top shape. 07. Many think that Im complex or a hardass but Im a very simple dude. I dont need a lot of bells and whistles. Fancy shiny things or the latest gadgets dont move me. 08. Although I am a simple dude, I dont impress easily and its a waste of time when someone try. Im impressed by what happens naturally in your character. 09. I an anticipation junkie and a hopeless romantic even though romance doesnt seem to find me. 10. Although I know a lot of people, it appears on the outside that I have a lot of friends but its not so. Im a bit of a loner and my circle is very small. And none of my friends are friends with each other so I dont have a crew that I roll with. 11. I come from a very big family but Im not as close to them as Id like to be. Facebook has brought me closer to a few of them or at least has allowed me to keep up with them. My close friends are my family. 12. Deal with borderline hoarder tendencies with music and clothes ESPECIALLY shoes. None of that sneaker business tho. 13. Although I write for music blogs, I still struggle with a fear of writing. In high school I avoided it at all cost. Even failed English a semester because I didnt turn in a term paper. I found the loop hole that would get me out of having to take English in my senior year and I jumped right in LMAO! When I went to Columbia, I had to start off with developmental English & Writing. 14. Not much of a dreamer. I dont fantasize much. Im a reality junkie. 15. Never understood the fascination with strippers. Just doesnt float my boat. 16. Dont get the fascination with getting high. Ive never smoked before. 17. Im an EXTREMELY patient person. Often times a little too patient. 18. I have an extremely low tolerance for blatant disrespect and I loathe false flagging and classism. 19. Im an organized messy person with a bit of a lazy streak and operate well in clutter. 20. I love HARD yet I dont smother. I appreciate my space as well. Ive never believed too much in 2 becoming 1. Not in the sense of losing your identity. 21. I dont give a dime until you give a quarter and I dont want if Im not wanted. 22. I LOVE good food and thats hard. I have an addictive personality. 23. Plain Dane. Although Ive enjoyed gourmet breakfasts and pizzas, my fav will always be my standard sausage & cheese and regular cheese eggs with grits. My favorite ice cream is vanilla, plain potato chips etc 24. Not much of a movie buff. Outside of Lets Do It Again, Which Way Is Up and The Mac, Ive never seen any of the 70s Blaxploitation films or Claudine etc. Ive seen just about all of Spike Lees classics but never saw Do The Right Thing (and I dont know why). 25. Not a hip hop buff either. Because of a negative atmosphere in Chicago in the heyday, I avoided it and didnt get into the culture until later (thanks to The Roots &Guru) so there are SEVERAL albums that are deemed classic that I never heard like 36 Chambers (or anything Wu for that matter), anything Public Enemy etc. I only seemed to get into the Native Tongue and the jazzy stuff. Its more about a groove for me. Thats why I never enter into too many convos about hip hop. I stay in my lane. 26. I wish I lived closer to my Dad but its too hot in the south LO (and too slow). 27. Although I complain sometimes about noise, Im a city boy TO THE CORE. I love the country jungle with lots of people. I dont desire to be away from civilization. Its why I frequent the tri-state as much as I do. I like the fast pace. Its life 28. Im a home body too.Cant stand late night parties. I look forward to going home. 29. Need to tap into my inner freak more (LOL Im just serious) 30. Need to travel abroad. Have never been outside of the US 31. Not a big fan of oils and incense. I prefer fresh smelling colognes 32. Not crazy about dogs. And if you have anything bigger than a poodle, its a safe bet that Im never coming over to visit. I wish I was normal
