Ok! so in the vain of supporting my beloved Dunlaoghaire, i decided to get blown off the west pier with a good brisk walk and lunch a t the new and for me controversial @Wetherspoons . Its situated in the old Forty Foot Dear God I wanted to like it but I absolutely hate it. Firstly, its not a friendly pub at all, in fact i think its a restauaurant of some sort and even that is a Stretch . The only free tables were piled high with dirty dishes and left over full all day irish unfinished breaKfasts. Now, unfinished is interesting ,as clearly it was muck. So my first thought is dirty tables dirty kitchen unfinished plates piled high ? Definitely shit . So in the vain of giving it a go we lifted all the crap and spread it between two other dirty tables. We sat and waited as se waDed through what promised to be a standard fare menu, no drama but alot on the menu, meaning that the kitchen needs to be pretty good To cater it all or its manky frozen cheap food. We sat and sat while eventually a young girl slowly cleaned the mess around us. We decided to eat and still we waited, until i noticed a queue at the bar with no seats. All with large menus in hand , because apparently you bring your table number and order at the bar as is clearly not visible anywhere Two other tables copped it at the same time. Now we Irish pride ourselves on our bars our carverys and our service and none of these apply here. In fact it all felt a bit nasty, tacky and cheap so if your an achoholic looking for a cbeap night out id say go here but you wont feel the comfort of a real irish bar , nor the service for that matter. Hugely disappointed if this is the future of our bars. Irish pub owners need to lift their game and get this crap outta here. Still n all , i hope its a boost for Dunlaoghaire . I should add we went to the lower deck of the waterfront and the restaurants were packed .Wetherspoons, wasnt, so maybe they will figure it out ...... Clearly, i wont be back. EVER
