Ok soap box time - everybody is talking about the tragic events that occurred in Bridgeport this past weekend. I want to start off saying my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. The bottom line is the Bridgeport Pool should NOT have been open in the condition that the water was in - period! Who cares if there was a church function scheduled - it could have been rescheduled or the church could have been given a refund. According to a reliable source - a city councilman made the poor and ultimately deadly decision to open the pool for the church function that was scheduled. As far as the lifeguards...reports are floating around that some people are giving them grief over the situation and purposely making them feel worse than they already do. Yall need to grow up and leave these kids alone. Most people have not and do not see tragic events like this...especially young people. Those of you that are on the backs of these lifeguards really need to realize what you are doing to them. Those who were involved in this situation are going to have to live with this event the rest of their lives. Grow up, put yourself in their shoes and try to imagine what they are going through. This was a horrible accident that could have been prevented but blaming those who was doing what they were told to do is not the right way to approach the situation.
