Ok this post is for my friends on facebook who have the same passion for live music that I do. 2014 was another amazing year of live music for me. Back in March I took Theresa to Binghamton to see one of her favorites - Darius Rucker. It was a fun show with Eli Young Band and Joel Crouse. I always like seeing Darius do Hootie songs! In June we took a trip to Niagara Falls and went to see Widespread Panic at Artpark. Panic played a great first set but unfortunately a huge thunderstorm came along and wiped out the rest of the show. A couple days later we decided last minute to head back to Buffalo and see Tedeschi Trucks at canalside. It was a beautiful night and a fantastic show. That band is going to be a must see for years to come. Went to my first Phish show in almost ten years in Canandaigua and definitely enjoyed the show. August brought the Peach Festival and the 2015 addition is among the best festival I have ever attended. Being right up front for Trigger Hippy with Joan Osborne and Jackie Green was one of many highlights. Saw George Clinton there for the first time and he definitely brought the funk. Joe Russo bought a Dead tribute band to fill in for Ratdog and they brought a great energy to the Deads music. Trey Anastasio fired the crowd up into a perfect frenzy Saturday night leading into the Allman Brothers fantastic Saturday night set. Sunday was definitely bittersweet. Warren Haynes played a beautiful wake up with Warren set ending with a great Wish You were Here -> Comfortably Numb - Wish You were Here to end the set. An emotional Warren handed of his guitar to his much loved tech Brian Farmer. It was the last time I would see Farmer, he died unexpectedly a couple weeks later. That night was my goodbye to The Allman Brothers Band as they called it quits this year. Another fantastic show that ended with a fitting Whipping Post. Labor day weekend we headed to Hershey for the Zac Brown Bands Southern Ground festival. It was fun to see Blues Traveler after so many years and Trombone Shorty is an amazing musician who takes your breath away. The Zac Brown Band once again blew me away, they are not just a country band, they are an amazing live touring act. If you get a chance go see them, they have great originals and pull out surprising covers such as Enter Sandman that are spot on. In November we went up to Ithaca for my 31st Govt Mule show. It was strange not seeing Farmer setting things up for sure. The Mule that night put on a show that I think goes down in my top 5. Warren seemed to be truly having fun, smiling all night long. I dont think I have ever seen him have so much fun on stage. 31 times and this band still amazes me everytime. The year is not quite over yet and this year I am going to my first ever NYE show - moe. in Albany. Extremely excited to ring in the new year with live music and excited to see what 2015 holds in store for live music. Thanks for reading, sorry it was so long. Happy New Year everyone!
