Okay, I am just going to say this once and then go on living with my own thoughts about it and having face to face conversations. 1. It is not okay to say someone deserved to die based on a history the person killing them knew nothing about before hand. 2. America is, and probably will always be, a racist country, until 2025, or somewhere around that when the aliens take over (yes thats what they call people of a minority race who were not born here, oh and once you become a citizen they call you naturalized which Im not even sure what that means other than they can still take away your citizenship even after you spend thousands of dollars and lots of time obeying the rules and jumping through the hoops) But yes, I love America. 3. No one deserves to die for selling loose cigarettes on a corner, especially after surrendering. 4. It is racist to post videos of random black people and claim that they were #MichaelBrown in some kind of violent act and then say, See he deserved to die. In fact, that is just ignorant and sad and in a week, after that person on my acquaintance list has had time to read this, he will be unfriended. 5. Im not sure what happened when Obama became president, but it seems that the racial hatred of black men has been amplified by 100, when in fact I think people are just mad that they have a black president. Its been 8 years!! Deal with it!! 6. I feel scared for my dad, my brother, my uncles, my cousins, my friends, and all their black male children. My family friend, who is a doctor, his son is a potential football star, a straight A student at a prestigious school, tall, deep voiced, beautiful young man, up for full scholarships at Ivy league and other top notch schools, and his mother is afraid for him when he walks around with his hoodie up. Thats not okay. 7. Im Jamaican. I grew up in a ridiculously diverse country. Yes, we have problems, but not once have I pre-judged someone based on their race without first getting to know them. Yes, there a things that are just tried and true based on the culture, an ethnic background, that we call stereotypes, that will always end up being true, but its not a judgment, it just is what it is. 8. I have some acquaintances on here, and people I called friends, that have really revealed themselves as people who are not of the necessary caliber to be my friends, or even fit to be in my social presence. SO my friends list will be getting smaller. 9. Yes, some people will call me racist for posting this but I dont care. Im have so many races running through my blood, that I acknowledge, that I am not offended if I offend someone. I wont even get started in on white privilege thats a conversation for people who care enough to acknowledge that it exists, and those people dont need to talk about it, they actually do something about it. 10. And Ill leave you with a closing thought, a poem by Martin Niemoller that was relevant then, and is relevant now. If you have a big enough brain you can replace the necessary parts with Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Gays, Asians: First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. #themovementisnotover
