Okay, I came late to the party with Gorrillaz, so perhaps this is the zeal of a convert, but this concert really brought home to me their fabulous eclecticism. Who else can combine such melancholy with so much drive? Who else would bring madman Shane Ryder on tour with them for one song? Or Dennis Hopper, for that matter? And then finish with the lamented Ibrahim Ferrer on video. I wish I couldve been there. (A bunch of comments I read on DARE were really angry at Ryder for his loutish behaviour. I guess theyre upset that hes not doing it the way it sounds on the album, but he knows exactly what hes doing. Loutishness is why hes there.
