Okay! I gladly accept the #ALSicebucketchallenge from Ryan Harguth! I now nominate Casey Sonflieth, Joel Tyler, and Ryan Hearn But I would like to take this opportunity to express my own views about this cause. In the past week or two, millions and millions of dollars have been raised for ALS throughout the course of this movement. But it has unfortunately been critized by some, with frustration that not everyone donates money, or that its just a trend that everyones going along with. Well I personally choose to believe that if what is considered to be cool is to bring awareness of ALS to the front lines of what were talking about everyday, despite the money we give or dont, I dont think thats the worst trend we could have. The other criticism that has come up in this movement is the water wasted in the process. This is one that I understand. There are far too many people around the world without water. Its a given for us, so its not natural to think twice about it. But with all of the incredible attention this movement has gotten, I cannot help but think about the 1 bucket of water that a little kid has to walk miles for everyday just to hydrate his family. So for that reason, I would also like to amend this movement, by adding that we also bring awareness to the lack of fresh water around the world by giving up a shower in exchange for the water we dump on our heads for ALS.
