Okay, I have seen a few posts in here in regards to a more modern form of e-collar training and would like to ask some advice. I am a positive reinforcement trainer and enjoy shaping and clicker training but am open minded to hearing some input to do some behavioural adjustment for my baby dog. She really is an exceptional dog with a decent recall, good sit, down and stay (not completely proofed but workable) and she is great at being clicker trained for treats. Our main issue right now which is recently developed is just over excitement on a walk. I would even consider it reactive, she wants to lunge towards people and other dogs (not out of aggression) but it does cause a couple of issues in some circumstances. On leash is where I have less control, off leash she is more attentive to what Im asking of her and will come, leave it, hush whatever. I can only name two times where she did not respond immediately but still responded. Having had only terriers I have not really dealt with herding breeds before and she throws me for a bit of a loop. Her current response to my leave it when she sees a stimulus is to tug on her sisters leash. Which all though it is a stress relief to her is an irritating experience for her sister. So, I am open to hearing how I can possibly adjust this behaviour. Anything is accepted, however Im not in the business of using prong or slip chains with her as she is too sensitive for that. She shuts down just from yelling.
