Okay, I have to get this off my chest... To the parents of Cedar Mt teams I Ump for: Rest assured that I will NEVER tolerate poor sportsmanship either on the field, or in the stands. Tonight, I was APPALLED but what happened at the field. CM was playing a team whose name I wont mention. But, it started with a G and ended with an oodhal. While it is true that we have all been at some games that are painful to watch, its about the kids learning and playing. Well a kid in a uniform that was of the visiting teams baseball squad, was making very derogatory comments about his OWN girls softball team. To the point that the girl catching was hearing it, while getting passed balls. So, I walked to the dugout, and told him that if I heard It anymore, he was going to have to leave. Turns out he is the son of an assistant softball coach. And apparently is one of those kids who will be innocent even if proven guilty. So after the game I went to explain myself, as I always do. And I was told, hes nine. Its not like he cursed.... cursing wouldnt get a warning. Your team could hear everything he was saying.... it was uncalled for, for you to call him out like that. (I respond loud enough for their whole team to hear) maam if you are ok with derogatory and unsportsmanlike comments to be made about the very team you coach, thats fine. If you care so little for your players, that people saying things like that, about them, doesnt bother you; whatever. But keep it OFF MY FIELD. (Turned and left the game.) Again, I dont tolerate it. And if it were MY son doing it, I wouldnt put up with it.
