Okay, I just saw Jimmy Fallons first Tonight Show. And heres my review. First off, I loved the new intro directed by Spike Lee showing Jimmy on the streets of NYC. Fallons first joke was Ill be your host — for now. He expressed a lot of gratitude thanking a lot of people, including his parents who were in the audience. As soon as he sat at his desk, he said To my buddy who said that Id never be the host of The Tonight Show, you owe me 100 bucks. Then onstage came Robert DeNiro, Tina Fey, Joe Namath, Rudolph Giuliani, Mariah Carey, Seth Rogen, Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga, Mike Tyson, Stephen Colbert and Sarah Jessica Parker and for the first time on the show since 1987, Joan Rivers giving him $100 each. He then took us to the roof of 30 Rock, 70 stories up where U2 performed their new song Invisible. When back inside, he interviewed his first guest, Will Smith who he performed a skit with called The History of Hip-Hop. All in all, it was a great first show. However, there were two caveats in my opinion. First, Im disappointed they didnt show the old NBC living color peacock from the Johnny Carson days at the intro. Conan OBrien did this on his first Tonight Show back in 2009. Speaking of Coco, I would have liked it if he had been one of the people who owed Jimmy $100. Nevertheless, Jimmy did fine for his first show and hopefully hell be around for a while. Id give it an B+. Now if NBC would just put the same effort into their Olympic coverage...
