Okay, Im going to shock a few of you. I am changing my position on the ACA (Obamacare). I am NOT changing my position that we need some type of healthcare for those who are in need, have pre-existing conditions, and are unable to obtain private healthcare. Not at all. I do believe that one of the responsibilities of government is to provide for its poverty-stricken, ill, and dowtrodden - with the caveat of a hand UP not a hand OUT. However, after watching how the carrier in Alabama has just used it as an excuse to exponentially raise its rates for all customers? Im just disgusted. Im disgusted that it has turned out to be a boon for the insurance industry. Im disgusted that it will not help those in difficult financial and health positions. I believe it could be so much more if it were not a political football. So, there you have it. Im not all bad. I have split the baby on this one. But as much as I want some type of socialized health care (yes, I said socialized dont have a cow), this just isnt it. Now I would NOT have shut down the government over it and cost hundreds of thousands of citizens to be nearly financially ruined. That was STUPID. Honestly. But I think a committee of both parties and both houses needs to examine the ACA and come up with some real and realistic changes to the law that would help our citizens.
