Okay, Im sick of ice bucket challenges. I saw one video of a man who decided to check out the ALS Associations financials (alsa.org), and he found that for every $7 in donations, the ALSA spent twice as much in professional fundraising, and based on that, he decided that the ALSA is not worthy of donations. His video presented more questions than answers, so I decided to see for myself. I found the ALSAs 2013 form 990 to the IRS, and this is what I found: In 2013, they took in just over $23 million in donations and with their investments, their total revenue was $24 million. Their expenses included: - $7 million in scientific grants - almost $6 million in salaries and benefits for employees - $5 million in patient and community expenses - $3 million in public education alsa.org/assets/pdfs/form-20990-20-20f2014-20irs-20sgd-2006-11-2014.pdf Make your own decision, but it seems to me that the majority of their donations are going to fund education, research and care for those suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. No, Im not dumping a bucket of water over my head (California is in a serious drought, Im not gonna waste the water). My two cents.
