Okay. It has now been 15 weeks at Childrens Hospital and this place has become like a second home. No family should have to call a hospital a second home and yet sometimes there are compelling reasons for being here. Baby Liam next door loves to spend his time in the hallway in a little tykes car roaming the hallways. I think his mom walks about 5 to 6 miles a day Monday thru Friday until her husband relieves her for the weekend. Today Julie was upset she didnt have a chance to take over and give Liams mom a break. She asked me to let Liams mom know that she will take over for a while on Tuesday. Sunday a mom from Random Lake stopped by for some coffee and some encouragement. Her son was in a horrible motorcycle accident and is in the ICU at Froedert next door to Childrens. Last week a couple was informed their son had cancer and it is a very hard thing to get your head around. It takes nearly a week before you can come out of the daze your in head and start thinking clearly. Every day I see pain and joy in different parts of the hospital with most people wanting or needing someone to listen or talk with about whats going on. Although we want to have our family all home under one roof, its safe to say both Julie and I would stay here with Jake for a year if we knew Jake would come home and be able to look forward to being a senior and doing things that a young man would be doing. Meanwhile we are all in. Some day this will only be a distant memory we can all look back on...... One day at a time.......
