Okay..Its 2:30 AM..and my phone rings ( never good) and its Stix telling me that I have horses out on Spurr Rd..he thinks a bunch. So I struggle into what seems like 12 layers as quickly as possible and head out the door. Luckily ,the roads were just fine, and I make a 20 minute trip in about 12..I am going thru all the TERRIBLE scenarios in my head and call Stix back to see if I should try to come in off is Spurr or just from Leestown..to which he replys Ed cant find them..he had been up and down the road ..both directions and he THINKS they are in a field ,over in the front of Blackburn ( prison).SOOO..I get there and sure enough there are 11 freaked out horses running around over there..I had grabbed a lead on my way thru the park..and myself and one of the guards traipse out and I grab Scarlett ..and hope the the mighty herd instinct is sound. I ask the prison to help us shut down the road as I walk (trying not to throw up in with panic)down the road and into the back entrance telling everybody they are okay and to please stay together as a group ..and dont run me over..so the first trip I had 7 come..the second trip I took 2 and the last ( there are a few that are REALLY slow) I got 2. There is NOTHING about this job that makes me really consider retiring..EXCEPT THIS..luckily ..it doesnt happen all that often..AND its never during the day..go figure ..I am so sore..I feel like I have been run over by a draft horse..:-/
