Okay, Ive got to talk about this. I had the most bizarre dream this morning. It being so close to worldcon, it was another of my worldcon-anxiety dreams–I get to the worldcon, I dont know where my hotel room is, I cant find anyone, Im supposed to be on a panel...you know what I mean. This morning, I was supposed to meet Gardner Dozois and Susan Casper for dinner but I coudnt find them anywhere. Finally, when they showed up, Gardner said, I got arrested. For what? Well, it seemed he found a piece of sandwich meat on the sidewalk and decided to pick it up and toss it into a grassy area nearby. A goat appeared, chased the sandwich meat and fell down a hill. The fall killed it–and then it was discovered that lots and lots goats had fallen down this same hill and died. When the police came, they arrested Gardner for tossing sandwich meat and causing the goats death. Dont be ridiculous, I said, Gardner would *never* kill a kid. Everybody gave me a dirty look except for Gardner and Susan, who hadnt heard me. I kept asking how dead goats could pile up without anyone noticing. No one had a satisfactory answer. I couldnt get the cab to stop and go back for Ellen Datlow untill I threatened not to pay the fare. Dont ask me, I just work here.
